During Your Stay
Telephone service is provided in each room for our patients. Please be sure to dial “9”, then the area code and number to reach an outside line. Dial “9+00” if you need to speak with a long distance operator. For credit card calls, dial “9” then follow the instructions on your calling card. If your phone is not working properly, please notify your nurse.
A television is provided for the use of our patients in every room.
Mail and Flower Delivery
If you receive mail during your hospital stay, we will deliver it to your room as soon as it arrives. We will forward your mail to your home once you have left the hospital. You may leave outgoing mail with your nurse, who will make sure it is delivered.
Flowers and fruit baskets sent to you will be delivered to your room by a volunteer. Any deliveries made after your discharge will be returned to the florist.
Flowers are not permitted in the Intensive Care Unit.
Gift Shop - ext. 3349
The Auxiliary-operated Gift Shop, located near the Surgical Waiting Area, offers a variety of seasonal items, stationery, clothing, jewelry, snacks and books. The Gift Shop is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. weekdays; 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Saturday; and Sunday 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Library Cart - ext. 3567
A volunteer will visit your room with complimentary books and magazines for your reading enjoyment. A visit may be requested by calling 3567.
If you or your visitors need cash, there is an automatic teller machine (ATM) located in the hospital lobby.
Wheelchairs are available at the main information desk in the hospital lobby. If you need wheelchair assistance during your stay, ask your nurse.
At some point during your stay, you may require the services of a notary public to certify documents, such as a will or power of attorney. We have qualified employees on staff to perform this service. Please call 3564 if you need someone to come to your room to notarize documents. The services of a notary public are available free of charge to patients in the hospital, Monday through Friday - 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

While you are a patient at FMH, we want your stay to go smoothly. However, at times you may not understand what is happening, the staff may seem busy, or you may not know the right person to address. It is our pleasure to care for you. Our staff strives to provide very good care to every patient. Your comfort, safety and satisfaction are important to us. We encourage you to speak to the nurse in charge of your unit about any concerns that you may have about your room, food, or the care you are receiving. Service Excellence Representatives are available weekdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. by calling extension 3564. A hospital supervisor is available at all other times by dialing "0".
Lost and Found - ext. 0 and ask the operator to page security
Patients are responsible for their own belongings. We encourage you to send all personal items home. Please notify your nurse immediately if you discover an item is missing. If the item is not found, please call the hospital operator to page Security.
