  • Brothers and sisters of the baby four years of age and older are welcome to visit at the bedside anytime. (Please make sure their immunizations are up to date.) Brothers and sisters under the age of 4 may also visit the new baby for short periods of time. Please speak with your nurse.
  • For privacy reasons, information will be given over the phone ONLY to the baby's parents.
  • Please make sure friends and family members visiting your baby are well.
  • Please turn off all cell phones before visiting in the NICU.
  • Please follow the NICU Handwashing and Gown Guidelines (they're posted at the sink just outside the automatic doors to the nursery):
    • Remove large jewelry.
    • Open a scrub sponge from the wall dispenser.
    • Turn hourglass timer over to begin 3-minute scrub.
    • Wet hands and wrist area.
    • Use plastic stick in the scrub sponge package to clean underneath fingernails.
    • With firm rubbing, using circular motions, wash the palms and the backs of the hands, each finger, the areas between the fingers, the knuckles, wrists, and forearms to the elbow.
    • Continue this scrubbing until the sand empties from the top of the hourglass.
    • Dry hands and wrists with a paper towel, going from fingertips to elbows, and not back down.
    • Put a clean gown on over your clothes before entering the nursery.
