Renal Scan


Patient Preparation

The patient must be well-hydrated prior to the test.

Exam Procedure

The patient will have an intravenous line inserted into a vein in their arm. A radioactive tracer will be injected through the IV. Images of the kidneys will be taken during the injection and will continue for 30 minutes. Renal imaging may also include pharmacologic intervention with Lasix (Furosemide) administration and additional imaging for up to 30 minutes.
