When your little one is scheduled for surgery, you want everything to be as stress-free as possible - and so do we. We keep things as non-threatening and comfortable as possible, with things like extra-soft gowns, TVs, special stickers and stuffed animals made by our own FMH volunteers. One parent can even accompany a very young child all the way into the operating room, and stay with them until they're asleep.
It won't be long before you are called to come back to see your child. If the doctor says it's alright, your child can enjoy a popsicle while we answer your questions and review discharge instructions. If your little one is going home that same day, you may carry your child out of the hospital or they can have a ride in a wheelchair. Either way, we'll be there to help.
